On Friday, October 1, Downtown Gadsden will wrap up the 2021 First Friday season with a festive fall gathering from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Broad Street will be lined with classic cars along the interior lanes as well as in the regular parking slots.
Multiple locations along the street will feature live music performances from local and regional bands. Food vendors will provide an array of drinks and treats. It’s a great time to enjoy a fall evening downtown while supporting local retail shops, restaurants and entertainment venues.
During First Friday, Broad Street will be closed to automobile traffic to allow pedestrians to easily cross the street to enjoy the event.
Entertainment will include Little Elvis at 2nd & Broad, The Leftovers at 3rd & Broad, Matt Harvey Band at 4th & Broad and Southern FX at 5th & Broad. There will be a belly dancer along with the Gadsden Line Dancers in the 600 block.
"This will be our final First Friday of the season, but it doesn’t mark the end of our special events,” said Kay Moore, DGI director. "On Friday, November 5, and Saturday, November 6, our downtown merchants will host the popular Christmas Open House. This is a great opportunity to get a head start on your holiday shopping and to get in the spirit of the Christmas season."
The guidelines for First Friday include no pets, no personal coolers or glass containers, no skateboards or roller blades and no advertising or fundraising. For additional information, please visit downtowngadsden.com.
