[ARCHIVED] COLOR DASH 5K FUN RUN/WALK COMING TO GADSDEN

cd5k.jpg

GADSDEN, AL---August 9th, 2016--- The James D. Martin Wildlife Sanctuary will be aglow with color when the Color Dash 5k Fun Run/Walk takes place on August 27th. Benefiting the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama and the Gadsden Runners Club, the Color Dash 5k will be a chance for folks to take in the beauty of the Sanctuary as they navigate the paths and boardwalks that extend into the Coosa River. Home to an active heron rookery, the Wildlife Park allows folks to get close to nature in a downtown setting and is listed on several Birding Trails

The Color Dash 5k is presented by McDonald’s and sponsored by the City of Gadsden Parks and Recreation Department and Greater Gadsden Area Tourism. 50% of the registration fees and 100% of sponsorships will stay local with the two charities.

Registrants will receive a white Color Dash t-shirt to wear for the event. As they make their way around the course they will be doused with an array of colors culminating with a Color Explosion at the end. Attendees may walk, run, sprint or dash as the event is a non-timed fun run/walk, perfect for families. The course is stroller friendly, and pets are not allowed. Dashers will go through six color stations. The color powder is 100% non-toxic, food-grade corn starch and food-coloring. Color events have become popular in recent years due to the family-friendly, non-competitive atmospheres of the events.

Day-of registration and packet pick-up begins at 7 a.m. Between 7 a.m. and the race start at 9 a.m. you can get your groove on with the DJ dance party, participate in various games, contests, and drawings. Ronald McDonald will make an appearance and McDonald’s will have their smoothie trailer there to provide smoothie samples. Just Let the Color Move You!

Registration is currently open and can be completed online at cd5k.com.
