The Gadsden City Council voted on Tuesday to rename the Senior Activity Center (629 Broad Street) the Downtown Civic Center. The Senior Activity Center has grown beyond its initial scope and vision and become a vibrant hub of activity and an important venue for high profile events in Gadsden. The Downtown Civic Center will always serve as a place for Gadsden’s Senior Citizens, but at the same time, it needs a new identifier that more accurately describes the host of activities and events for all ages that take place inside this wonderful facility.
The Downtown Civic Center is woven very deeply into the fabric of downtown Gadsden, and it connects with multiple locations in the 600 block of Broad Street, including the Pitman Theatre and the Water Wall courtyard. In addition, the center has many spaces inside, including Parks & Recreation offices, classrooms, sitting area and the central meeting space that makes the Downtown Civic Center such a desirable venue.
Look for new signage, logos, and branding for the Downtown Civic Center in the near future.
