The demographics of the new GMA Art Play have been widened to include children of all ages and available activities are now more focused on art. Artist-themed activities pay homage to Kandinsky, Picasso, Haring, Hirst, and Warhol. There will be a grand opening of GMA Art Play on Tuesday, May 2nd @ 12:15 pm. We encourage you to bring children to enjoy the renovations. Admission is free and light refreshments will be served.
A few upcoming events at the GMA include various classes and summer camps. This Thursday we are holding our first “Coffee and Canvas,” a morning art class in which participants can enjoy a cup of hot coffee while creating their own work of art. In the upcoming months, we will be hosting a photography class which teaches basic photography skills. This summer we will be offering two weeks of summer camps for students grades first through seventh. We will also be offering small group private art lessons during the summer for which spots will be limited and prices have yet to be set. Official dates for these events will be announced by Friday, May 2nd.
The GMA is proud to introduce our new Education and Outreach Coordinator, Jill Edwards. Jill received her degree in Interior Design from the University of Alabama and has taught Art History classes to elementary students at Eura Brown for the past ten years. Jill is currently teaching classes in her on-site classroom and has exciting outreach plans that include art lessons for local elementary and homeschool groups.
