The City of Gadsden has been working with local architect Pat Sherman on plans for the renovation of the Kiwanis Pavilion at Noccalula Falls Park. In the past, the schedule for reserving the facility has opened in November for the next year. We will close the facility and the Pow-wow room starting in January so that we can start the construction. Because of the closures, we will take reservations starting Nov. 1 for the Princess Room and outdoor pavilions and we will take reservations for Kiwanis Pavilion and Pow-wow Room for July through December of 2018.
The renovation will be extensive as the facility hasn’t had a facelift since it was built. The facility hosts a wide range of events from family reunions, church picnics, parties and even some small conferences. The renovations will enable more rentals and a much better facility for the public to use. The construction will necessitate moving the Noccalula Falls Parks Staff to the Pow-wow Room for the duration of the construction.
The construction will create a new visitor center style access for the public, especially when the entry pavilion is closed; new parking areas and traffic controls will be added. In addition, to better honor and commemorate the Kiwanis Club's involvement in the community and their legacy with the building, the Kiwanis Club memorabilia will be moved to a new Kiwanis conference room in the building.
We appreciate the patience of the public as we know the loss of the facility will require some events to be relocated or rescheduled. The City of Gadsden Parks and Recreation Staff will help find alternate venues and times for events when possible. The extensive renovation will give new life to a Gadsden landmark and a refreshed venue that citizens will be delighted to use.
