In light of recent events, the Gadsden/Etowah County is pleased to announce the dates of our Spring 2018 Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training. Join us May 1st, 3rd, 8th, 10th, 15th, and 17th from 5:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. This free training highlights the importance of neighbors helping neighbors in the aftermath of a disaster. It covers basic skills that are important to know when emergency services are not immediately available. The Etowah County CERT program consists of lecture-based learning with hands-on training in basic disaster response skills such as Fire Safety, light Search and Rescue, Disaster Medical Operations, and Team Organization. Call the Gadsden/Etowah County EMA at 256-549-4575 to sign up. The last day to register is Wednesday, April 25th. You must attend all six classes to receive training accreditation. . REMEMBER, First responders can’t be everywhere after a disaster hits. That’s where YOU come in!
