Downtown Gadsden - In June we jump right in for the First Friday festivities on June 1. Everyone is invited to come downtown to enjoy family-friendly fun from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Many downtown stores will be open late to allow for convenient shopping. Food vendors will line the 400 block of Broad Street serving up delicious treats. A wide array of classic cars will cruise in and be on display.
Live music features the Grand Avenue Brass at 2nd and Broad, Ben Cornutt at 3rd and Broad, Mother May I at 4th and Broad, Ed Howard Band at 5th and Broad, and the energetic Gadsden Line Dancers in the 600 block.
To cap off the evening, the Summer Concert Series at the Amp kicks off with Southern Accents, a Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers tribute band from 8:30 to 10:30 pm. The free concert is suitable for all ages. To make attendance more comfortable, cushions and coolers are welcome. New for this year's series, Local Joe's will be on hand selling concessions.
Start the day early at the Farmers Market at the 5th Street Market. The hours are 7:00 am to noon.
Broad Street will be closed from 1st Street to 7th Street starting at 4pm and will reopen after the event. As a reminder to all, pets are not allowed at First Friday.
