A brief reminder for candidates and others placing yard signs in the City of Gadsden: According to City code section 130-483 (o) It is unlawful to erect or display political signs on any property owned or controlled by the state, city or on school board property. This shall include public rights-of-way, trees, light poles, sidewalks, streets, benches, fire hydrants, public parks or playgrounds, libraries, fire stations, city hall, and schools.
If signs interfere with maintenance of the right-of-way, they will be removed and can be retrieved at the City of Gadsden Public Works Department at 111 Burnsway Drive.
A good rule of thumb is to only place signs at occupied properties, business or residential, between the structure and sidewalk if one exists.
