Last week was the 2018 Alabama Disaster Preparedness Conference held in Hoover, AL and presented in partnership by the Alabama Association of Emergency Managers and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency. Members of the GECEMA attended so that we may always know the most current ways to serve our citizens in preparedness, response and recovery efforts.
During this training and conference event your GECEMA and staff was recognized in various ways and we are proud to share this news with you.
Josh Tanner, GECEMA Emergency Management Specialist received the “AAEM Scholarship for 2018 – 2019” to further his education in our profession.
The GECEMA Staff was also awarded the “AAEM 2017-2018 Preparedness Program of the Year Award for a Large County” for the Annual Kids Preparedness Spring Event.
We are proud of Josh and proud for him as he continues to educate himself to better serve our citizens, stated; Deborah Gaither, Director of GECEMA. I am also very excited that the entire staff, our responders and volunteers along with Kay Moore at DGI was recognized by our EM peers from across the state for teaching preparedness to the children of Etowah County. We will continue to serve and improve to the best of our ability to teach all, that responsibility for disaster preparedness begins with “YOU”.
