Gadsden, AL - During the Gadsden City Council meeting on Tuesday, January 14th, 2020, the city council approved the finalized lease agreement with the Gadsden State Community College for the new riverfront sports park. 

The lease agreement was the next step in the project that will not only renovate existing facilities, but also create a state-of-the-art sports park by constructing new fields, playgrounds, lighting, parking, and other amenities to accommodate various sports for our residents to enjoy. The project will provide a brand new, top quality facility for all of Gadsden and Etowah County.

Work will begin soon with the next phases of the project including design, site preparation, and construction. The result of this collaborative project will be youth sports facilities for use by the community, additional development along the Coosa Riverfront, as well as a continued partnership between Gadsden State Community College and the City of Gadsden. Bringing thousands of families onto the Gadsden State Community College campus will also be a clear benefit, enabling the college to highlight recent investments in their academic facilities and award-winning programs.
