We are working with key partners and stakeholders to ensure that residents and staff are safe during the COVID-19 novel Coronavirus outbreak. We have been and continue following the guidelines and procedures outlined by the CDC and Public Health agencies in addition to taking extra steps to provide a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. As the situation continues to evolve, we want to share additional safety measures we have put in place to protect the health and safety of everyone in our community:
First, events and facility rentals with anticipated attendance over 500, have been canceled or postponed according to recommendations from the state department of health. Second, we are frequently disinfecting high-touch areas in our facilities (including doors, restrooms, recreation supplies, and countertops).
We are also reinforcing illness prevention procedures with all staff as recommended by the public health department including frequent handwashing, avoiding contact with your eyes, nose or mouth with unwashed hands, and avoiding close contact with people who are sick.
• We are instructing staff who are exhibiting symptoms of illness to stay home or seek care from a medical provider when necessary.
As of today, we are limiting and postponing some activities until a later date. Since information is being updated frequently please check further social media accounts like the Gadsden Parks and Recreation Facebook page and other event hosts. Some affected programs and events include:
- Programs for Guest 60 and older.
- Therapeutic weekly programs and events.
- Athletic Leagues and Tournaments.
- Large events and rentals over 500 in attendance.
