About the Gadsden Police Department

The City of Gadsden Police Department was established in 1846. The police department currently employs approximately 100 full-time police officers that are sworn to protect a population of over 37,000 residents. These officers are well trained and are provided the latest in technology.

In addition to police officers, the department also employs over 20 civilian employees in dispatch, property, records, and IT. School crossing guards and animal control employees are also under the Gadsden Police Department.

Hours of Operation

The Records Department is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Copies of incident or accident reports can be obtained for $3 each. Payments can be made by cash or check. Photo ID is helpful in obtaining records.

The Detectives Division is available by appointment, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am to 11:00 am and 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Call 256-549-4630 to schedule an appointment.

Fingerprinting is available for $3 and is done on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between the hours of 8:30 am to 11:30 am and 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Photo ID is required.
