The Animal Habitat inside Noccalula Falls Park will reopen Friday, Sept. 10, 2021, after having been closed for more than four months.
To celebrate the reopening, the first 100 visitors to the Animal Habitat on Saturday, Sept. 11, will receive a free Frios Gourmet pop courtesy of Destin Mince, owner of the local Frios location.
That area of Noccalula Falls Park has been closed since a fire in early May.
Future plans for the Animal Habitat are still in development, and though the barn has not been rebuilt, several existing outdoor enclosures have been updated. Park guests will be able to interact with a number of animals.
The facility also includes a new building that provides a space to store animal feed and supplies and office space for park workers.
Mince purchased the corner porch cabin and donated it to Noccalula Falls Park.
“We’d like to thank Destin for his wonderful generosity and support for the Animal Habitat,” said Gadsden Parks and Recreation Director Jen Weathington.
“We’re glad to be able to re-open this part of Noccalula Falls Park for the public to enjoy again,” she added.
The ticketed portion of Noccalula Falls Park is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
