For the second year in a row, Twin Bridges Golf Club will be playing host to the Alabama Open sponsored by the City of Gadsden.
The 2022 Alabama Open is organized by the PGA’s Alabama-NW Florida Section and brings a mix of PGA professionals, the best local professionals and top amateurs from around Alabama and the Florida panhandle to compete.
Around 80 players will compete in the “State Championship of Golf in Alabama” from Friday, July 22, 2022, to Sunday, July 24.
“This is huge for both the City and the event,” said Chet Hallman, PGA golf professional and manager of Twin Bridges, and he thanked Mayor Sherman Guyton and the City Council for their support.
The 2021 Alabama Open marked the return of the event from a year off due to the pandemic, and Hallman said its success in Gadsden led to an increase in corporate sponsorships this year and has helped re-establish the Alabama Open.
The tournament also provides a chance to showcase the course and increase opportunities for hosting other professional and amateur events in the future.
The par-72, 6,800-yard course is set along the Coosa River and has undergone a number of upgrades in recent years, including a replacement of the greens.
The Alabama Open will also have an immediate and positive impact on the City of Gadsden’s economy as competitors will have local hotel room stays, restaurant visits, and gas and shopping purchases.
